Perfumes for And Just Like That TV characters

I am a big cheerleader of And Just Like That TV series and I think it would be fun to match perfumes to the main characters: Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda. I know that Samantha is not on the show anymore but let’s keep her here for the sake of this post. There is not much said about perfumes on the show so I presume that the Sex and the City characters are not fragrance fanatics and simply wear what is available and trendy. Sit back and enjoy my fragrance choices.

The main character Carrie represents endless romanticism, elegance and big city vibrations. Therefore, I think lively perfumes like Burberry Her or L’Imperatrice 3 by Dolce & Gabanna private line would do it for her. She is also confident and womanly and that could be covered by the one and only Delina by Parfums de Marly.

The next character Charlotte is ultra-feminine and cute hence I have Pour Femme by Dolce & Gabanna in store for her. In addition, she brings happiness to people around her and takes part in healthy activities like running thus Light Blue by Dolce & Gabanna could be also a hit. Due to her affiliation to an upper class, I suggest she could also wear Gabrielle by Chanel.

Samantha is a woman with balls who enjoys attention from the opposite sex. Very Sexy by Victoria’s Secret ticks the box. Moreover, she is independent as hell which she can express by wearing Jil by Jil Sander. And lastly, she likes to spend her money and indulge in luxury. I cannot think of anything better than Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian for her.

Miranda is smart and practical. She is not going to enjoy anything too sweet or floral. Stella Tocca would be a good “pick me up” casual fragrance for her. She can also wear Chance by Chanel daily to work and White Patchouli by Tom Ford for lunches with the girls.

I have chosen three perfumes for each character based on their personality traits and I also wanted to have a price variety – from cheapies to luxury goods. Please note that by any means I do not claim that the characters wear these perfumes on the show, it is just for your entertainment.

Smell great, offend no one!

As much as we fragrance people would love to smell bold and daring, there are times and places where beast frags are not allowed, and there’s absolutely nothing we can do about it. Work, office, hospital, whatever. We all know THESE PLACES. The point is, we still want to smell good and I am here to help. I have five scents that are appropriate in places where you are not supposed to wear anything! Fragrance-wise. So, here they are in no particular order. Smell amazing and offend no one!

Infusion d’Iris Prada
If you have not heard about Infusion d’Iris, you are living under a rock. Infusion d’Iris is THE ICON of Prada’s private collection. It is not your girly girl but rather a classy lady in a clean white linen T-shirt. She just washed her hair, feels refreshed and looking forward to a new exciting day. It is also your woody powdery old school smell at its prime. Totally harmless.

Flora Botanica Balenciaga
Where Infusion d’Iris is old school, there Flora Botanica is timeless. Flora Botanica has the ability to give an impression you are not wearing anything. It is your silent companion, your partner in crime. The note profile is fresh, slightly spicy with mint carnation, rose, cannabis, vetiver and amber blended so carefully in small doses, leaving a green, crisp and clean finish. Top work fragrance.

White Tea Elizabeth Arden
Tea fragrances are made for an office-friendly environment. White Tea has the same effect as Flora Botanica but is a little bit sharper and more aromatic, giving out marine vibes. The notes are sea, fern, sage, white tea, iris, woods, tonka bean and amber. It is the most unisex option.

Narciso Narciso Rodriquez
There is nothing wrong with a hint of musk at a workplace. Narciso’s musk melts into your skin and creates this slightly sweet baby like woody composition, a natural skin smell giving an aroma. Give it some wear test to see if it clicks with your body chemistry. Narciso Rodriquez knows how to make musk in all its forms.

O d’Azur Lancome
Old school citrus that fit the scenario perfectly. Casual, free-spirited, evoking French countryside. You get to sniff your citruses, pine trees, sea breeze … all in a light peaceful way. It is a summer vacay scent with no traces of terrible sun tanning coconut gourmands that I cannot stand.

Infusion d’Iris, White Tea and Narciso fall into a floral woody musk category. Flora Botanica is green floral and O d’Azur floral-fruity. Good luck to you all. I hope you find a scent that you can pull off at work without ruining your colleague’s day.

Irresistible Givenchy Givenchy

Floral Fruity
Perfumer: Anne Filipo, Dominique Ropion, Fanny Bal

Irresistible Givenchy is a release from 2020. Throughout the years I became fond of most Givenchy perfumes. The brand makes remarkable fashionable creations. Organza and Amarige became icons in the perfume world and Reve d’Escapade, Hot Couture and Dahlia Divin are my ride or die fragrances. It comes as no surprise that I like Irresistible Givenchy too.

It is very much on the fruity side yet it stands for a fruity perfume with class. There are moody musk and woods as opposed to the delightful sweet sparkling pear note. The middle is elegant, enhanced with a rose and iris combo which brings makeup, powder finish. It sits beautifully on the skin as well as on clothes.

The scent is wearable all year round although spring and summer are probably the right months to rock it. Day or night? Both. However, the perfume’s inner beauty is going to shine more during the day. It still makes quite a versatile piece of work.

A simply composed fragrance which interestingly, opens many possibilities.

Autumn Vibes Maison Martin Margiela

Woody Spicy

This fragrance is getting a lot of hate these days; nevertheless, I must say I enjoy it. A lot of the complaints question the unisex fashion of Autumn Vibes. People say that it leans considerably masculine, but I personally wear it and I am a woman.

Usually, I do not tend to grab unisex scents yet I can get away with this eau de toilette. Long story short. It is UNISEX as it claims to be. Does it evoke autumn as it claims, too? Yes, it does. It delivers its promises and does not oversell. There is nothing wrong or off-putting about it. But of course, everybody’s taste is different. It is the one for fall and winter, that is for sure but apart from that, it is charming.

Although the notes are different, it reminds me of Narciso Rodriguez for Him. Yet still, Autumn Vibes is lighter, brighter and unisex. Its woods cedar, moss and maple mainly with light spices like cardamom, pink pepper and nutmeg. The aroma is long-wearing and projects well.

A vivid picture of an autumn forest. Moody, wet, aromatic. Beautiful.

Coffee Break Maison Martin Margiela

Aromatic
Perfumer: Jacques Cavallier

A have a 10ml travel size of this eau de toilette and I would not mind having a 100ml bottle. It is lovely.

Coffee Break is from the “memory in a fragrance” line. It was designed to evoke a cold winter day in Stockholm in 2007, cozying up in a cafe with a freshly brewed cappuccino nearby. And it does smell like it. The accords are warm and cozy; it replicates the scent memory perfectly. It smells like biscuits, milk and coffee. The scent is comfortable enough to wear to bed.

The actual note profile is strong on lavender; which interestingly, I do not get. It is not a beast mode fragrance. It is EDT in the end of the day. Not something you would wear to a club to give you an example. However, with its moderate lasting power and projection, it serves its purpose well. If it were stronger, I would somehow find it suffocating.

Coffee Break is worth trying if a nice casual winter scent is something you are hunting down.

Perfect Marc Jacobs

Amber Floral
Perfumer: Domitille Michalon Bertier

I have tried a few fragrances from Marc Jacobs and I must say, I am not overly impressed. The bottom line is, they are all very similar. You have tried one, and you have done it all. That is not good. It is absolutely fine that perfumes from the same line have the same DNA but here they lack character – the something that draws you in.

Perfect has a fruity top: rhubarb and narcissus; there is almond milk in the middle and the base is of cashmeran and cedar. Considering the note profile, Perfect is not supposed to be a floral-fruity cocktail, but somehow it is. Again. It is your fruity Escada mixed with floral woody Chloé. I am aware there are no fruity notes listed; however, this tart rhubarb note does the job.

The lasting power and projection are poor in my opinion. If you desperately want a Marc Jacobs scent, get the original Daisy or Intense, and you tick the box.

Another Daisy-like fragrance from Marc Jacobs. You are not missing out.

Emporio Armani Because It’s You Giorgio Armani

Floral Fruity
Perfumer: Anne Filipo

Because It’s You is a sweet raspberry vanilla scent. Normally, I am a sucker for raspberry but here, I do not go banana over it. Do not get me wrong. Because It’s You is a pleasant, warm hug that you get from a friend. There is nothing particularly wrong with it.

The cloud is nice and yummy, easy to wear during winter. My issue (please note that I have become extremely picky throughout my life in fragrances) is that the perfume smells like perfume. How weird is to say that. It smells like a typical fruity vanilla perfume that a girl next door would wear; and from a certain point, this is not enough for me. I am looking for the wow factor, something mind-blowing.

This piece from Armani is satisfactory but unusual and generic. Exactly what is expected from a mid-range designer brand.

A fruity vanilla aroma, inviting and crowd-pleasing yet incredibly boring.

Burberry Her Burberry

Floral Fruity Gourmand
Perfumer: Francis Kurkdjian

Designed for girls and ladies who love vibrant city life, are not afraid of life and take it as it comes in full doses. These women are also out there, they speak their minds, are unstoppable. This is Burberry Her! Young in mind, strong and vocal at heart.

There is an artificial strawberry note which is grounded by a mix of musk, vanilla, cashmere, wood. In other words, it is a fruity fragrance but the fruitiness is balanced with some quality base notes. Therefore, we get quite a sophisticated piece. Burberry Her is a unique signature-worthy fragrance. It can be worn all year round, and during the night can be topped up with the intense version.

A fruit salad type of fragrance that takes you by surprise. Grounded and elegant.

Girl of Now Shine Elie Saab

Amber Floral
Perfumer: Dominique Ropion, Sophie Labbé

Girl of Now Shine is a pleasant surprise. It is a delicious warm almond-vanilla scent. I get Poison Girl vibes. It is sensual but does not take itself too seriously, it is playful and comfortable.

I was afraid of the pineapple note at the top but I do not detect it. The opening is just fruity, rich and nutty to me. The heart is almondy and floral – orange blossom, jasmine, ylang-ylang. The base is mainly vanillic. It is a gorgeous delight for fall and winter, lush in texture. One must like sweet and nutty fragrances though. I can imagine Girl of Now Shine being overwhelming for fainthearted.

It is strong in projection and looong-lasting. I guess that we could call Girl of Now Shine a more gourmand dupe of Poison girl. The beauty by Dior is still my favourite but Girl of now shine is not bad at all.

A gourmand powerhouse yet an easy reach perfume for a lazy night in.
