Woody Chypre
Perfumer: Annick Menardo
Le Labo is a perfume lab based in New York. Their intention is to create soulful fragrances. They want to manifest the wow factor – bring something shocking and new combined with well-known and familiar. They believe that today’s perfumery must be daring yet handmade with natural ingredients and of course, cruelty-free and ecological. Celebrities should pay full price. They bet on community work and craftsmanship. They celebrate art!
Initially, I wanted to order Santal 33 because I was excited to know how the entire Hollywood smells (including Justin Bieber); however, the brand did not deliver Santal 33 to my country. They are very pricey so I picked up a sample of Patchouli 24. I like the note profile and patchouli especially. The first impression is good. The sample arrived within a day from the UK to the Czech republic. Packaging was ecological and trendy. There was no postal cost on top of that.

The scent itself is irreverent as the lab promises. You first think what the hell! The opening is sharp, in your nose patchouli. When the scent settles, distinct campfire vibes and leather come through. There is no leather listed but it must come from birch. The dry-down is sweeter, not that loud, actually nice.
I am neither leather nor a campfire fan. But for those who like such a smell, Patchouli 24 can be a quality niche fragrance, which can be pulled off by a bold brave personality. I see Patchouli 24 as polarizing. There will be fanatics who absolutely love it as well as sceptics who despise it. Disclaimer: You need some time with the fragrance, it may not be an easy love but I give it extra points for originality.
Earthy woody patchouli with a leather touch. Naturalistic, not a put-together girl.
