Turquatic by MAC: A Freshly Squeezed Lemonade

Turquatic by MAC
Aromatic

Turquatic is a watery juicy citrus cheapie. Nothing more, nothing less. It is not exactly groundbreaking but at the same time, not too bad for the price.

It is considered a unisex scent; however, it leans more feminine from my point of view. The staying power and projection are okay for what it is – a safe freshie marine. I see similarities with Cool Water by Davidoff or Ocean di Gioia by GA. I like fresh aquatic perfumes but there needs to be some oomph to them. Wood Sage & Sea Salt from Jo Malone is exquisite, for instance.

If I had Turquatic in my collection, I would definitely use it up. It does not completely disappoint, the scent is just flat with no surprise.

Simply: A Chick Fragrance for Young Professionals

Simply Jil Sander Eau de Toilette by Jil Sander
Chypre Floral
Christophe Raynaud

The majority of Jil Sander fragrances for women are stylish, bold I say almost masculine. I recognise the edge they bring to the market yet it is not something I would personally enjoy wearing on a regular basis. They are musky, powdery, and fit for the corporate.

Simply Eau de Toilette is slightly softer, friendlier, and ready to be pulled off by romantic ladies. It is musky, juicy with pear, powdery due to violet and edgy thanks to tuberose. We cannot forget about the huge dose of leather which brings out the typical Jil Sander forwardness.

I cannot stop the feeling that I have smelt the scent before. Maybe not one particular moment, it smells like a mixture of many. Irresistible by Givenchy the musky pear EDP comes to my mind. Also, Donna Valentino has a similar straightforward leather base. Simply holds the Sander DNA, it is a solid perfume yet easily replaceable.

Infusion De Cedre: A Forest with Ethereal Creatures

Infusion de Cedre by Les Infusions de Prada
Floral Woody Musk
Daniela (Roche) Andrier

Infusion d’Iris is a classic where tradition and modernity melt and naturally mix together. It creates an elegant timeless unisex aroma. I expected the cedar version to be similar but woodier thus more masculine. I was far from the truth.

It does have the Infusion DNA; but peculiarly, I find it more rounded, finer and feminine leaning. It is a step above Infusion d’Iris if you like cedar wood. It is indeed squeaky clean, green and calming. I wore it to bed the other day and it was so relaxing, did not bother yet stuck around all night. In this respect, it reminds me of the lavender pillows that our grandmothers slept with to have a good night’s sleep.

But seriously now, if you already own Infusion d’Iris, it is probably enough and you do not have to spend money on this flanker; however, if you have run out of your Iris, it is time to try Infusion De Cedre. You will not regret it.
