Christina Aguilera: A Faint Plum Paradise

Christina Aguilera Christina Aguilera
Amber Floral

Christina Aguilera by Christina Aguilera was launched in 2007. I remember sniffing it back then and I was not impressed. I was not into vanilla frags. The bottle is incredibly sexy though and goes hand in hand with Christina’s public image. This perfume that wears her name seems to score the highest in terms of popularity out of all her scents, and she has quite a lot. Although this fruity vanilla appears to be considerably popular among her fans, it has never reached popularity within the fragrance community as Britney Spears, SJP, or even Jessica Simpson and JLo back then.

Christina Aguilera is a gorgeous scent with a fruity top, flowers in the middle and a vanilla base. The most noticeable are black currant, plum and vanilla. Today, I personally like perfumes with this profile. It is similar to Britney Spears’ Fantasy range; however, and this may be the reason why it is not hugely recognised, the projection and lasting power are much weaker. Even with the heavy dose of vanilla, it is not a strong scent. It lasts two hours maximum on my skin which is not fine with many people. Maybe only Christina’s die heart fans can put up with this. There is a deliciously sweet plum note actually quite nicely blended. If only it lasted longer and projected more. Overall, it will make a solid fragrance for a teenage girl.

A sweet plum vanilla fragrance, you have to bathe in it to make it last.

Perfumes for And Just Like That TV characters

I am a big cheerleader of And Just Like That TV series and I think it would be fun to match perfumes to the main characters: Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda. I know that Samantha is not on the show anymore but let’s keep her here for the sake of this post. There is not much said about perfumes on the show so I presume that the Sex and the City characters are not fragrance fanatics and simply wear what is available and trendy. Sit back and enjoy my fragrance choices.

The main character Carrie represents endless romanticism, elegance and big city vibrations. Therefore, I think lively perfumes like Burberry Her or L’Imperatrice 3 by Dolce & Gabanna private line would do it for her. She is also confident and womanly and that could be covered by the one and only Delina by Parfums de Marly.

The next character Charlotte is ultra-feminine and cute hence I have Pour Femme by Dolce & Gabanna in store for her. In addition, she brings happiness to people around her and takes part in healthy activities like running thus Light Blue by Dolce & Gabanna could be also a hit. Due to her affiliation to an upper class, I suggest she could also wear Gabrielle by Chanel.

Samantha is a woman with balls who enjoys attention from the opposite sex. Very Sexy by Victoria’s Secret ticks the box. Moreover, she is independent as hell which she can express by wearing Jil by Jil Sander. And lastly, she likes to spend her money and indulge in luxury. I cannot think of anything better than Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian for her.

Miranda is smart and practical. She is not going to enjoy anything too sweet or floral. Stella Tocca would be a good “pick me up” casual fragrance for her. She can also wear Chance by Chanel daily to work and White Patchouli by Tom Ford for lunches with the girls.

I have chosen three perfumes for each character based on their personality traits and I also wanted to have a price variety – from cheapies to luxury goods. Please note that by any means I do not claim that the characters wear these perfumes on the show, it is just for your entertainment.

Heat Rush Beyoncé

Floral Fruity
Perfumer: Honorine Blanc

Heat Rush smells like a fruit salad, mango in particular. However, there is no mango but passionfruit, blood orange and cherry. The heart of the fragrance sounds promising with mango blossom, orchid and hibiscus. There we go – mango blossom – after all. The base is ambery musky and woodsy.

The scent is overall fresh and tropical when you need a bit of pick me up on a hot beach day. I would not say it smells particularly cheap. It could be easily mistaken for any tropical Escada out there. The lasting power is kind of crappy though as expected with celebrity fragrances.

Good value for many. A fresh, tropical cocktail for summer days.

Nude Rihanna

The first impression of nude is sweet and very fruity. There are pear, mandarin and guava at the top. It has got a typical flower middle with orange blossom, jasmine and gardenia. The base is woody and musky with a hint of vanilla orchid. It all sounds attractive and somewhat exotic but when on the skin, the notes smell a bit synthetic. The lasting power isn’t impressive either.

Nevertheless, the artificial vibe I describe doesn’t have to bug everyone. The wonderful thing about fragrances is that they lay out differently on various people; therefore, we can get hundreds of smells from a single perfume 🙂

A sweet and tropical scent but unfortunately, I can’t get rid of a slightly plastic feeling on my skin. 50/100

Lovely Sarah Jessica Parker

The fragrance Lovely definitely means a lot. It’s charming, gentle, romantic, elegant and quite importantly, old fashioned in a nice way.

All these lovely words apply to this floral perfume. The opening is wonderful, very citrusy and martini, I love it! Then the citrus fades away (but not completely) and the scent turns into a soft blossom. I wouldn’t say it’s heavy but it’s not exactly fresh either. I’m surprised how lovely and unique this scent actually is.

It’s quite me! Conservative, elegant but modern at the same time. 90/100

@all: Do you feel the interesting twist in Lovely? To me, there is something that makes the fragrance smell classy and distant.

Fantasy Britney Spears

Fantasy is an adorable sweet fruity and tropical delight, containing interesting notes like white chocolate or cupcake.

There is a warm vibe to it with a surprisingly good lasting power – incredible 8 hours or more on me. I didn’t expect that 🙂

Where to wear it? I usually wear it at home; I am a bit hesitant to wear it at work as it’s a fundamentally sweet fragrance. But thinking about it more and more, I must conclude, why not to wear it on a regular basis, even at work?

It’s a comforting sweet and long lasting scent. A total surprise! 80/100

@all: Would you wear Fantasy on a regular basis?

Circus Fantasy Britney Spears

A passing sweet lemonade.

When I smelled Circus Fantasy for the first time, I absolutely adored it because it reminded me of sweet lemonade in the best possible way. However, putting it on me, I ended up with a sweet deodorant-like scent, nothing too fancy. Sugar, vanilla and violet are noticeable in the composition. My advice is: If you like sweet, go for the pink original Fantasy instead. It just does its job way better.

A crazy citrusy sweet cocktail. 50/100

@all: Which Fantasy is your favorite?

Meow Katy Perry

A warm sweet comforting scent.

The most dominant note is vanilla, in my opinion, which makes the scent cozy, creamy and sweet. This was the kind of scent, I felt comfortable wearing at home when chilling out. I can also smell pear and honey. It didn’t last more than four hours on my skin though.

This fragrance is made for girls and ladies who are fond of sweet perfumes. Even if you are not a huge fan of sweet scents, you find moments when you happily reach for this scent.

An interestingly sweet, vanilla based comfy fragrance. 40/100

@all: What would be your review on Meow. You can leave your opinion in the comment form.

Naomi Campbell Naomi Campbell

Naomi Campbell Naomi Campbell was a blind buy by a sixteen year old girl who didn’t know much about scents.

The opening is balsamic and spicy; the base powdery and musky. Due to its heavy base and a sweet dry-out, I recommend this scent for a winter or fall time preferably by night.

This scent would stand out on a quiet occasion like dinner or just o couple of drinks (no more!). Although the longevity is excellent, I don’t see this working on a big night out full of dancing and rock and roll unless you don’t mind ending up sticky and sweet.

Not for everybody but can serve well when the right time and place is chosen. 30/100
