Q by Dolce & Gabbana: Shockingly Smart Aroma

Q by Dolce & Gabbana
Aromatic Fruity
Daphné Bugey

First of all, I hate the bottle. Tacky, not cool at all. I think I have been avoiding Q for a while because of that. So not fair. Lol. But then I realized, there is a cherry note in the fragrance and I knew I needed to give Q a go. And I am glad I did.

Things seem to be simple at first but soon you know, it is not an easy perfume.
It opens with lemon and blood orange, then goes into cherry with heliotrope which smells after sweet almonds. What?! And in the base, fresh and sharp cedar wood. It looks like Daphné Bugey combined impossible. And guess what! The result is stunning. It may sound strange but the citrus aromatic part mixes incredibly well the gourmand Griotte part. And together it manages to stay crisp and transparent underlined with cedar. Q is a clever scent that offers more than expected.

Q Eau de Parfum Intense: A Wannabe Lost Cherry by TF

Q Eau de Parfum Intense by Dolce & Gabbana
Amber Floral
Daphné Bugey

Q EDP Intense is of course a flanker of the original Q. An intense, elixir or parfum version is usually a more concentrated, sensual, deeper fragrance with the DNA of the original juice.

I normally like the uniqueness, easy-going versatile and fresh nature of the original fragrances. Most of the time, I do not need more intensity and sweetness. Q intense is a classic example where I am over the moon with the OG; however, ambivalent towards the intense.

Q Intense smells like Griotte in the opening which is a dark cherry liquor. It is accompanied with heliotrope and amber. Overall, it smells fruity, nutty, creamy and sweet. But at the same time, it does not have the intensity some of the nighttime deep black cherry scents have like La Petite Robe Noire by Guerlain or Lovefest Burning Cherry 48 by Kayali. It is a fruity-sweet cherry fragrance with a bit of a base which does not stay straight and strong. It is a sort of wannabe Lost Cherry by Tom Ford but it struggling to get there.

The original Dolce: Not a Granny White Floral

Dolce by Dolce&Gabbana
Floral

Believe it or not, I have never smelled the original Dolce by Dolce&Gabbana. I am a fan of most of the flankers but the OG somehow slipped through my hands. Shame on me!

The original Dolce from 2014 deserves a bit of an introduction. The bohemian chic style fashion house Dolce&Gabbana named after two Italian men Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana places a great emphasis on their Sicilian heritage and this is apparent throughout their designs in dressmaking and in perfumery. Their most significant perfume breakthrough was with The One for men and The One for women leaving the Dolce line in the background.

Dolce the scent is fresh floral, at the first sniff, something you have definitely smelled before. Yet, it has a moment of surprise. There is this unusual note of papaya and amarillys flower which both add sweet fruity nuances to the fragrance. Technically, Dolce is a straight forward floral; however, the juicy fruity aspect is a catch and adds spark to what would otherwise be a boring white floral.

I am happy with it. It is an easy reach grab and go type of perfume that you can get for a reasonable price. It is a feminine combo but not overly girly, very office appropriate and versatile. It is a nice fragrance in your collection because when the spring hits, you can wear it all the time. I have 80ml. I am curious to see if this goes fast as expected or I will forget about it in no time.

Devotion: Uncomplicated, Likeable, Delightful

Devotion by Dolce&Gabbana
Amber Vanilla
Olivier Cresp

Devotion is a brilliant surprise from Dolce&Gabbana. The scent brings joy, especially in the opening. It has a gorgeous candied lemon note followed by orange blossom, panacotta and rum, underlined with vanilla.

It is a sweet-tart heaven on Earth. It smells like a lemon cake. The vanilla is soft and inviting. It is a vanilla smell for people who are not into vanilla. So friendly and easy to wear. A vanilla scent for the day, light but with a decent lasting power.

A great release from Dolce&Gabbana, perfect for autumn. It is also going to sell well around Christmas in particular. Vanilla is a big thing not only in the perfume community but also among regular perfume consumers. When I first got into perfumes, vanilla was a no-no for me, now I thoroughly enjoy it, Devotion included.

Perfumes for And Just Like That TV characters

I am a big cheerleader of And Just Like That TV series and I think it would be fun to match perfumes to the main characters: Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda. I know that Samantha is not on the show anymore but let’s keep her here for the sake of this post. There is not much said about perfumes on the show so I presume that the Sex and the City characters are not fragrance fanatics and simply wear what is available and trendy. Sit back and enjoy my fragrance choices.

The main character Carrie represents endless romanticism, elegance and big city vibrations. Therefore, I think lively perfumes like Burberry Her or L’Imperatrice 3 by Dolce & Gabanna private line would do it for her. She is also confident and womanly and that could be covered by the one and only Delina by Parfums de Marly.

The next character Charlotte is ultra-feminine and cute hence I have Pour Femme by Dolce & Gabanna in store for her. In addition, she brings happiness to people around her and takes part in healthy activities like running thus Light Blue by Dolce & Gabanna could be also a hit. Due to her affiliation to an upper class, I suggest she could also wear Gabrielle by Chanel.

Samantha is a woman with balls who enjoys attention from the opposite sex. Very Sexy by Victoria’s Secret ticks the box. Moreover, she is independent as hell which she can express by wearing Jil by Jil Sander. And lastly, she likes to spend her money and indulge in luxury. I cannot think of anything better than Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian for her.

Miranda is smart and practical. She is not going to enjoy anything too sweet or floral. Stella Tocca would be a good “pick me up” casual fragrance for her. She can also wear Chance by Chanel daily to work and White Patchouli by Tom Ford for lunches with the girls.

I have chosen three perfumes for each character based on their personality traits and I also wanted to have a price variety – from cheapies to luxury goods. Please note that by any means I do not claim that the characters wear these perfumes on the show, it is just for your entertainment.

Dolce&Gabbana Pour Femme Dolce&Gabbana

Floral

Pour Femme is one big marshmallow to me. I cannot detect anything else in the composition. Perhaps bit of sandalwood. The fragrance is sweet but not sickly. It is delicate and soft kind of sweet. Due to its elegance and subtleness, it is suitable for work as well as date. The scent is very recognizable.

With that being said I respect Dolce&Gabbana Pour Femme. I find it feminine, signature worthy, lasting and projecting. I know people receive compliments. Nevertheless, I do not enjoy wearing it myself. The fragrance is just sweet on me – soft and delicate marshmallow. I am looking for something more. I do not mind the sweetness but I am always looking for a twist – bit of citrus or spices here and there. Dolce&Gabbana Pour Femme is flat, a reliable solid fragrance but flat. And I never really liked the smell of marshmallow either!

You have to like marshmallow and sweet powdery scents. If you do, you found a gem.

Summer Fragrances Day and Night

Summers are usually hot and humid and this time requires a special selection of fragrances. We are looking for scents that are light, fresh, sparkling for the day. For the night, we want to add little extra something. In this video, I prepared six perfumes for the summer daytime and three for the night. I included professional work perfumes, flirty and sexy scents as well as super casual fragrances. I did not forget about tropical beachy aromas together with relaxing perfume choices. Sit back, relax and enjoy watching 🙂 xoxo

Light Blue Dolce&Gabbana

Floral Fruity
Perfumer: Olivier Cresp

Light Blue became a contemporary summer classic and I can see why. The Blue aroma is pleasantly evoking. You suddenly think of Porquerolles, Saint Tropez or Cannes. It has it all – fruits, flowers, woods; femininity and a bit of masculinity too.

Unfortunately, as many other citrus fragrances, the scent quickly fades away, and gradually but surely, you find yourself back in reality of your week days back home. It’s a pity that Light Blue does not stick around. It feels like you are not deserving? Hence Dolce&Gabanna made an intensive longer lasting version which is better.

Despite all of that Light Blue manages to be both citrus fresh and smooth ultra sexy at the same time. Not many scents can achieve that.

Blue is your “light” vacation dream comes true. 80/100

D&G Anthology L’Imperatrice 3 Dolce&Gabanna

This fragrance also belongs to the sweet family, nonetheless, in comparison to Viva La Juicy Gold, the way it’s done is more sophisticated. You could call this fragrance sexy and elegant. It’s maybe not for a black tie occasion but it can do a great job at a cocktail party. Anthology L’Imperatrice 3 is inoffensive and subtle yet still quite unique and very very stylish. I would recommend it for women who like sweet scents but don’t want to go over the top. This perfume doesn’t scream for attention. I like it a lot and can see myself buying a full bottle.

D&G Anthology L’Imperatrice 3 is a stylish chick, fun and sexy. 80/100

The One Dolce&Gabbana

The One opens with tender notes like peach, litchi and lilies. The dry down is sweet yet sophisticated. The One is very popular across countries, among people of different ages and walks of life. It’s known for its femininity, charm, comfort and friendliness.

My personal experience with The One is also positive and I can see exactly why it has won the many hearts across the globe. However, I also have to point out a few drawbacks. The immense popularity of this fragrance goes hand in hand with its common character. It’s not a perfume which would be exceptionally different or distinctive. It’s a pleasant friend but not a femme fatale. Moreover, its power and longevity is not killing, therefore, we can expect an overall weaker impact.

The One is a lady-like, nice companion. Always decent, sweet at its best and popular among a wide spectrum of audiences. 60/100
