Fame Intense Paco Rabanne: Empty Hall

Fame by Paco Rabanne is followed by Fame Intense which is meant to be a more sensual, deeper, party version of the original. I am neither a huge supporter of the mango-centric original nor impressed by the Intense one. The OG at least has a fresh sense of mango which makes it playful and unique. This new release does not have a character, nothing sets it apart from the crowd.

I do not think it will have as many fans as the original. It lacks the initial blast, energetic fuse Fame automatically comes with. I think there is still bit of mango although is not listed; jasmine, incense and sandalwood. I would say it is a jasmine and sandalwood fragrance, pretty usual combo. Incense is toned-down. Do not expect the power and intensity we know from Amouage.

Fame Intense can serve as a base scent or if you are looking for something basic. If I got it as a gift, I would probably find a way to use it but as a release of 2024 by Paco Rabanne I sadly find it underwhelming.

Invictus: Wave of Cleanliness and After-Shave

Invictus smells fresh citrusy and aquatic. A pleasant sports fragrance with excellent performance for a fresh scent, suitable for young men. The notes are sea notes, grapefruit, mandarin orange, ambergris, guaiac wood, oakmoss and patchouli.

It is a pretty harmful profile, versatile anywhere anytime type. Yes, it has a synthetic accord but it is not as prominent as in Savage by Dior or Baccarat Rouge 540 by MFK.

The bottle is kind of horrendous but the juice is actually okay. If my significant other wore this, I would be fine. I would prefer him to wear a more natural unisex composition with some absolutes but still, Invictus is not bad and I can see why it gained so much popularity among the male audience.

Fame PR: An Easy-Going Tropical Drink

Paco Rabanne is famous for its sweet “voluptuous” fragrances for women which I have not been swayed by so far. Fame is the newest release from 2022, a tropical vanilla scent with a lovely velvety mango accord.

It smells like pina colada or any creamy fruit cocktail you would sip on a beach bar. It is gorgeous and feminine. Likeable and free-spirited. You can spray a ton of product on your holiday, let it sink to your sun-kissed skin and be happy. It is not as obnoxious as Olympéa but far more laid back and safe.

Some frag community members think that the bottle is a joke, I think it is cool and different; moreover, it reflects the juice inside.

The pressing question is “Do we need Fame”? As much as I think it is a wonderful aroma, I do not feel pressured to purchase a full bottle. Fame did not wow me so to speak. I do not wake up and want to put it on my skin or clothes. But that is my side of the story. If you are a Paco Rabanne collector or looking for a smooth tropical perfume, you are going to be pleased for life.

Ultraviolet Paco Rabanne

The launch of Ultraviolet goes back before 2000. If anything, it is definitely a creation that you would not expect from Paco Rabanne.

I surprisingly like it. Or I at least find it unique enough to appreciate it. If I did not know the notes, I would say it is a bold spicy iris perfume. To make a long story short, it is spicy and bold but a violet perfume. There is pepper, pimento and coriander in the opening hence it is leaning almost masculine. The dry-down is slightly sweet and dusty. These days, we would say that it is totally unisex.

Spicy powdery violet that has a cold undertone and an old lipstick touch.

Olympéa Paco Rabanne

So far, none of the Paco Rabanne scents has worked for me. Unfortunately, Olympea included. It is supposed to evoke competition and subsequent victory, which it does, I reckon. It is a glamorous shiny daring fragrance as all the Paco Rabannes are.

It is a strong salted vanilla with white florals and ambergris. I cannot help it, but it smells little artificial, laud and it reminds me of Naomi Campbell scent – the original. The notes and vibes are similar as well. They are both nauseating and almost sickly sweet to my nose. I do not want to offend anyone, it just does not work with me.

A sweet and salty scent that is proudly out there for you to notice. 30/100

Pure XS For Her Paco Rabanne

Quentin Bisch is an accomplished perfumer. He is the nose behind the Parfums de Marly most successful Delina range. He took inspiration from his exotic travels and created a ylang-ylang based sensual perfume – Pure XS. It is supposed to capture forbidden erotica, orgasm, passion. Hmmm ….

Pure XS is based around three notes: ylang-ylang, vanilla and popcorn. They work well together and the fragrance captures exotic island air as well as playful vibes powerfully. However, I would be careful with the “erotic” branding. Pure XS is flirty – yes, but erotic? The smell reminds me of a teenage girl who intends to be sexy but is still kind of looking for her way. It is more cute than anything else.

If you say erotic I have spicier deeper fragrances in mind. I would wear Pure XS to the cinema, for a casual date … It is the type of mass appealing scent that many people like.

A sweet casual scent with a modern take on ylang-ylang and popcorn. 40/100

Shrnutí v češtině: Quentin Bisch je uznávaný parfumér. Na svém kontě má například mega úspěšnou řadu Delina pro PDM. Svůdnou Pure XS, která voní po banánu, vytvořil po svém návratu z exotických cest. Má zachytit zakázanou erotiku, orgasmus, vášeň. Její hlavní složky jsou ylang-ylang, vanilka a popcorn. Jejich kombinace věrohodně zachycuje hravou náladu a tropické ostrovy. Nějak mi tam ale nesedí to extrémní erotično. Vůně Pure XS je koketní, chcete-li, ale erotická? To je přehnané! Spíše na mě působí jako nesmělá teenagerka, která ještě neví co a jak, ale strašně by chtěla být sexy. Za erotické považuji vůně trochu jiného kalibru. To ale nic nemění na faktu, že Pure XS je roztomile sladká a určitě zaujme velkou spoustu lidí. Můžete si ji vzít do kina, na rande a budete se cítit příjemně.

Wow, the first impression is intoxicating – a creamy sweet floral, sparkly and glamorous. Putting it on me, the charm gradually disappears. After a few hours, honey is predominant and there is almost nothing left. How could this happen? I was so excited!

It’s true  that Lady Million and I didn’t hit it off but it doesn’t mean that the doors are closed to all bathrooms 🙂
