Despite the name Noir, you can expect a very bright and juicy opening with grapefruit, bergamot and orange. The aroma soon turns into a delicate floral with rose, geranium, jasmine and narcissus. Afterwards, you get down to the beautiful subtle base of patchouli, sandalwood, tonka, vanille and white musk.

You feel the typical Chanel DNA throughout the experience. Overall, it is a well done perfume, little bit less dark and bold than expected. It makes Chanel Noir a soft night-timer ideal for hotter months and any women regardless of their age.

Halfeti is a rich and potent fragrance launched in 2015. It opens with citrus – bergamot and grapefruit but do not let the opening fool you. It quickly turns into cypress rose, oud, leather scent, extremely strong and masculine.

Only a Middle-Eastern boss woman could pull this off. The scent has a spicy and herbal character as well. I cannot imagine myself wearing Halfeti; but that being said, I think it could make a pretty good room scent. I can imagine a luxury holiday resort lobby smelling like Halfeti and that I like.

An exotic beast, super niche with a menthol character, only for those who are used to standing out.

Joop! Femme Joop!

Joop! Femme was launched in 1987 as the company’s first fragrance. It contains aldehydes, reminiscent of fresh laundry. Chanel n. 5 is a very aldehyde fragrance to show an example. Then jasmine and orange blossom, sandalwood, civet, vanilla, amber and tonka bean.

The lady who wears this is not only confident and sexy but also intelligent. It screams a boss, manager, judge. It is fresh laundry with sex appeal, authority and determination. A winter fall perfume, just few sprays and you are good to go. It smells vintage. Joop! Femme would be ideal for my aunt who is a jurist. She was born in the 50’s, a smart woman with a kind heart, feminine, fierce, self-sufficient.

She wears Chanel n. 5, Chanel Chance and Eternity CK. Joop! Femme could be a good alternative. What do you think?

Samsara is a classic by Guerlain. It is a woody oriental sweet scent launched in 1989. It is professional yet playful, in my opinion. Not so serious sophistication! That’s what I like about Samsara. It is a fragrance for any occasion. Old fashioned? Maybe little bit. But anyway, you can’t go wrong with it. In the end of the day, it is Guerlain!

It contains a prominent ylang-ylang which is a rich floral, sweet, similar to banana, then iris, jasmine, narcissus, orris root, sandalwood, vanilla, amber and tonka bean.

Where have you been, if you don’t know Samsara. Woody floral sweetness. 50/100
