Dear follower,

You know I do not take perfume purchases lightly and I am committed to use up my beloved fragrance bottles. If I seriously do not like a scent, I either return it or re-sell it as soon as possible. The most of my perfumes I am using and enjoying my life with them. Fragrance makes makes me feel alive!

English Pear & Freesia: To Mums Always Prepared for Anything

English Pear & Freesia by Jo Malone
Chypre Fruity
Christine Nagel

This cologne is named after my two favourite notes in perfumery. Pear because it is sweet juicy and sparkling, and freesia because it is a spicy green floral. These two mixed together and supported with earthy notes like patchouli are heavenly.

It is an intriguing scent. Fruity from pear and melon but the chypre part is right underneath which gives the fragrance depth and body. It reminds me of something but I can’t quite pinpoint what it is. Something I smelled way in the past. It is elegant and classical. I see Marylin Monroe wearing this at home, or a mother of the bride at the wedding venue. It is not exactly a young scent, it has the chypre quality which is darker.

It is captivating in the same way Si by Georgio Armani is. They do not smell the same at all but there is certain magic they both have. It is a scent that transfers you to your fantasy and allows you to live it for a while.

You may need to be over thirty to appreciate English Pear & Freesia, and you have to enjoy the scent of freesia. Although I love it I am marking it down a little bit because I think it is appealing only to a certain type of audience. To those who may concern, they know.

Gucci Guilty Absolute: Dry, Naturalistic and Mossy

Gucci Guilty Absolute pour Femme by Gucci
Chypre Fruity
Alberto Morillas

I knew that Gucci Guilty Absolute will be either a hit or miss for me. On one hand, I love my berries in fragrances, plus Gucci Guilty Absolute was recommended by a fellow perfume enthusiast Sandra Solomon. On the other hand, I am not huge on Gucci Guilty in general – it is too floral for me, and I was also afraid of the woody part of the scent. It is supposed to be quite a tenacious earthy odour.

After the first spray, my worries are officially confirmed. Once you get past a beautiful juicy blackberry, you are doomed to the downward spiral into deep aromatic woods. It is rich and heavy, masculine at points. Definitely for fall and winter. Do not expect airy blackberry dancing with dew drops and green leaves. This is a dark forest, has its charms but is not for everybody.

I recognise it is a good scent – powerful plus unique but lacks femininity and the lightness of being.

Mon Paris Yves Saint Laurent

Chypre Fruity
Perfumer: Dora Baghriche, Harry Fremont, Olivier Cresp

The perfume opens with a burst of juicy fruits. You sink in with sweet strawberry, raspberry and pear but also tart orange, tangerine and bergamot. The middle is purely floral picturing peony, jasmine and orange blossom. The base is earthy and dirty with patchouli, white musk, vanilla, moss and cedar. The above together create a sparkly, yummy combo yet sophisticated and mysterious.

It is the type of fragrance that is fruity sweet but still womanly and chick. Mon Paris would make an appealing signature because you can wear it all year round, during the day but is elegant enough to serve as an occasion scent too. Have you smelled anything like that before? Probably yes. It is not going to blow your mind instantly but it is pretty enough to make a statement. I am not surprised why so many fragrance fans like it.

Fruity patchouli in a bottle. A delightful tasteful grown-up sweetness. 80/100

Jimmy Choo Jimmy Choo

Jimmy Choo is a simple sensual fragrance for night.

The simplicity is astonishing. The perfume works only with fruity green at the top, orchid in the middle, patchouli and interestingly toffee at the bottom. I expected this fragrance to be very sweet. It is not. It’s a sexy, sultry fragrance for night. If you are a confident woman and you know what you want in life, Jimmy Choo won’t be overbearing for you.

Are  you a FEMME FATALE? Jimmy Choo will highlight your natural charm and beauty. Are you not? Then beware. 40/100

@all: Do you have a night sensual fragrance in your collection? Which one is your favorite?

Body Burberry

This is the kind of fragrance you either love or hate, nothing in between. And unfortunately, I hate it, I’m sorry.

And I don’t get Body. It´s the strangest combination of green, wood, musk and fruit … but hey, I don’t smell fruit at all. Peach? Where is it? It just smells artificial and unpleasant on me.

However, for people who love it, it’s certainly a distinctive choice which they appreciate during the winter even more.

If you want to smell something  different, yet quite popular, this is the scent. On a scale of oddness, it would get 10 points but on a scale of likability only 20/100.

@all: Do you love, or do you hate Body?

Si Giorgio Armani

Sickly sweet and overpowering.

I had high hopes for this fragrance. I’ve heard many people saying how great this fragrance is; however, the reverse is true, in my opinion. I put on Si in the morning and kind of liked it. I smelled it all day long so thumbs up for its lasting power. When I was heading home from work, I could still smell it but it made me sick though. The sticky sweetness to it was unpleasant. The vanilla note is overwhelming and the strange combination of other notes doesn’t help it.

Although I still have about 9 ml of this perfume, I won’t give it a go for some time and rather leave it deep down in my closet.

Can work only in small doses, otherwise, turns out to be too much to handle. 20/100

@all: Is your experience with Si the same as mine or completely different. Leave me comments. xoxo
