Brisa Cubana Escada: The Spirit of Summer Fanfare

Brisa Cubana by Escada
Fruity Citrus

Brisa Cubana brings me back to my happy childhood to the middle of a local fanfare full of attractions, smiles and sweets. It has this addictive tangy sweet opening. It smells like the most amazing lemon drops together with sweet cotton candy. When the fragrance start is juicy and fruity, the dry-down sinks into a floral, centered at mariposa lily – the national flower of Cuba.

As with most Escada perfumes, I adore the opening but later, the scents settle into rather boring soft woody florals. Brisa Cubana included! It is a summer limited edition Eau de Toilette and it performs accordingly. A mood booster, refresher – lovely exotic aroma, nothing more nothing less.

Wavechild Room 1015: More Prime Time for Watermelon in 2024

Wavechild by Room 1015
Fruity Citrus
Jerome di Marino

Wavechild is sweet fruity aquatic yet has some body from coconut. It smells like a watermelon jolly rancher. A pretty great watermelon scent, actually. Wavechild is supposed to visualize and celebrate the surfing culture, chilling on a beach etc. and it does that to an extend.

To me, it has more of the fruity tropical aspect. I get a bit of Bali marine aquatic qualities but the fruit salad and pina coladas are much stronger. I do not mind at all. It is your modern L’Imperatrice by Dolce & Gabanna. It really is. Fun, likeable and easy. Nothing wrong with that. Total opposite to Cherry Punk. I really appreciate when a brand can pull it off, what a departure.

Wavechild will be used up quickly in my house. It is a type of scent that currently reflects my style and mood. I am still a stay home mum with two little beauties. Sometimes chilling out, sometimes running after them and this relaxed perfume is what I need. Especially now when the summer is slowly but surely approaching. I am starting to recognize, watermelon will be a thing this summer. I am going to get lucky.

Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate: Crisp, Lively and Tart

Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate by Hermès
Fruity Citrus
Christine Nagel

I admire Christine Nagel’s creations and this scarlet bottle is not an exception. It smells like fruity rhubarb water with berries. The composition is delightful.

It is in the same fragrance category as L’Imperatrice by Dolce&Gabanna. I enjoy both! Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate is realistic, L’Imperatrice is fun. And they are both easy refreshing scents for summer.

I got exactly what I expected. No surprise there. Therefore, it is sufficient to own one or the other, in my opinion. On top of that, the longevity and projection is not there in both cases. It is what it is – sour, bright and sadly, light.

Anyway, even though it is on the softer side, the aroma is incredible and you need to have this note profile on your resumé. Here is the deal. If you are a classy lady with a Birkin and a Twilly, go for Hermès. If you are a bohemian chick with an open mind, choose Dolce&Gabanna. There you go!
