Soleil Lalique: Appetizing Summer Bliss

Soleil by Lalique
Floral Fruity Gourmand
Alexandra Monet, Barbara Zoebelein and Benoist Lapouza

Soleil Lalique is a sweet citrusy happy scent. But not only that. There are spices and gourmand notes which makes the fragrance interesting. Almond, mandarin orange and pear are the most prominent yet the juice remains bright and airy. It is a gorgeous light gourmand for summer. Like a dessert which has a milky consistency, you finish the dish and you feel you could eat ten of these. I feel that this glass maker – perfume brand is seriously underrated. Their fragrances are not power-houses but thought through and well crafted.

Do I prefer this original Soleil or Soleil Vibrant? I feel that the original is softer, sophisticated and rounded. The Vibrant version is more energetic and outgoing. So it depends on your personality, event you are going to etc. They are different enough to own both, especially for the price.

Sunset Hour: Designer, Celebrity, Niche?

Sunset Hour by Goldfield & Banks Australia
Aromatic Fruity
Honorine Blanc

Sunset Hour is Goldfield & Banks’ best seller hence I blind-bought a 50ml bottle. We all know the portion of dopamine it gives us to open a brand-new bottle of perfume. Surprisingly, it was not instant love. It took me time to pinpoint what is this fragrance all about.

First of all, Sunset Hour is a Parfum concentration, it carries approximately 20% of botanicals and essences. In this respect, one would expect a bold fragrance, lasting and projecting massively. But it is not like that! It lasts about four hours and stays close to the skin pretty much the entire time.

Secondly, there are two aspects to it. It opens beachy-like, tropical, and youthful. Pear, mandarin, raspberry and desert peach Quandong – typical for the Southern Hemisphere. I see an orange lollipop that kids get as a treat after visiting a doctor. Or, fruity hair and body products that teenagers love.

Then it sinks into something creamier, woodier, and comfortable on the skin. The heart carries jasmine absolute, ginger, mango, coconut cream, pink pepper, sandalwood and cashmere. Although it has all these exquisite materials, milkiness and delicacy, it is still a fruity perfume.

Long story short, it is a challenge to create a masterpiece when you have a lot of tropical fruits in hand. Sunset Hour smells like a mixture of Marc Jacobs daisies, Miami Glow by J Lo and Cassily by PDM. Designer, celebrity and niche. I like it but it is not a love for me. When it comes to smooth tropical perfumes, I need more flowers thrown in. Narciso Ambree is a perfect example of a creamy beachy floral in my opinion. Sunset Hour is very much on the fruity side which does not add much class.

The Scent Of Peace: Tangy Glacé Musk

The Scent Of Peace by Bond No 9
Floral Woody Musk
Michel Almairac

Tangy grapefruit and black currant together with a tiny bit of green floral are balanced with soft musk and a hint of cedar wood. When mixed all together, we get the famous dove-like scent of peace represented by the United Nations.

It is a subtle fruity musk. Sweet innocent. Not sweet seductive that we have in Narciso Musc Noir. It is pretty good. I can see a teenage girl wearing this to high school. Her parents are well-off, she is living in a nice neighbourhood, is educated and well-behaved. A good girl that has a style and knows what is appropriate for her age. The Scent of Peace is the cherry on the cake.

As for myself, I would not buy a full bottle. Although I enjoy fruity musks, this is way too peaceful for me, especially for the price.

Forever Laura Biagiotti: Cheap Smelling Fake Tan

Forever by Laura Biagiotti
Chypre Floral
Jordi Fernández

A bottle of sun tanning lotion!!! Coconut! Heavy florals! Caramel, vanilla! These are the images that came to my mind when I smelled Forever for the first time. I get Jil Sander Sun vibes and not in a good way. I like Jil Sander Sun, but this one is even more chemically sweet, and the price is outrageous on top of that.

I looked at the note profile and there is no coconut listed; however, we can find sweet notes like praline, vanilla and benzoin. Also, tropical florals like tuberose are mentioned. Forever tries to be a chic sensual scent for a grown-up woman but I am afraid it fails.

It is serious and deep I can tell you that but carries a weird form of stickiness. It is like a bull in a China shop, lacking lightness and effortlessness. This fragrance does not call my name, as simple as that.

Simply: A Chick Fragrance for Young Professionals

Simply Jil Sander Eau de Toilette by Jil Sander
Chypre Floral
Christophe Raynaud

The majority of Jil Sander fragrances for women are stylish, bold I say almost masculine. I recognise the edge they bring to the market yet it is not something I would personally enjoy wearing on a regular basis. They are musky, powdery, and fit for the corporate.

Simply Eau de Toilette is slightly softer, friendlier, and ready to be pulled off by romantic ladies. It is musky, juicy with pear, powdery due to violet and edgy thanks to tuberose. We cannot forget about the huge dose of leather which brings out the typical Jil Sander forwardness.

I cannot stop the feeling that I have smelt the scent before. Maybe not one particular moment, it smells like a mixture of many. Irresistible by Givenchy the musky pear EDP comes to my mind. Also, Donna Valentino has a similar straightforward leather base. Simply holds the Sander DNA, it is a solid perfume yet easily replaceable.

Sweet Lolita Lempicka: Cacao with Cherry on Top

Sweet by Lolita Lempicka
Floral Fruity Gourmand
Anne Filipo

Lolita Lempicka is a French fashion designer. Her fragrance Sweet is a flanker of a super popular Lolita Lempicka perfume – the apple-shaped purple one with star anise and liquorice. I quite like the original Lolita Lempicka. It is a unique bottle and a unique scent with a fairy quality to it. Sweet with sour cherry and sugar on top is a fairly mass pleasing fragrance. It is sweet yet not so much as the sweetness is grounded with cacao, iris, musk and cashmere.

Sweet is also a gentle scent. Do not expect anything rich and heavy. It is a beautiful uplifting perfume. Cherry can sometimes give medicinal vibes reminiscent of cough syrups etecera. But not in here. It is a nicely done cherry. The staying power and projection are not amazing, but good enough for me to keep the scent. On top of that, the Floral Fruity Gourmand family is hardly ever disappointing.

Mon Paris Intensément: A Dressy Berry Blast

Mon Paris Intensément by Yves Saint Laurent
Chypre Floral
Dora Baghriche, Harry Fremont, Olivier Cresp

Chypre fragrances are one of my favourite perfume families. They typically have a citrus opening (bergamot, orange, lemon or neroli), a floral middle (very often jasmine or rose) and an earthy animalic base made from oakmoss, patchouli or musk. They smell feminine and sweet yet grounded with a woody mossy component.

I also like the original Mon Paris. It is a fresh fruity chypre suitable for any occasion. The Intensément is a more nighttime, jammier, rosier version of that. Still a lot of berries. Raspberry and black currant in the opening. The middle is all about rose. The base is earthy, enhanced with vanilla and benzoin.

It is the proper intense version – more sensual, richer, mysterious. A great womanly scent for a date. It melts effortlessly into your skin and lasts sufficiently. Good job!

Autumn Vibes Maison Martin Margiela

Woody Spicy

This fragrance is getting a lot of hate these days; nevertheless, I must say I enjoy it. A lot of the complaints question the unisex fashion of Autumn Vibes. People say that it leans considerably masculine, but I personally wear it and I am a woman.

Usually, I do not tend to grab unisex scents yet I can get away with this eau de toilette. Long story short. It is UNISEX as it claims to be. Does it evoke autumn as it claims, too? Yes, it does. It delivers its promises and does not oversell. There is nothing wrong or off-putting about it. But of course, everybody’s taste is different. It is the one for fall and winter, that is for sure but apart from that, it is charming.

Although the notes are different, it reminds me of Narciso Rodriguez for Him. Yet still, Autumn Vibes is lighter, brighter and unisex. Its woods cedar, moss and maple mainly with light spices like cardamom, pink pepper and nutmeg. The aroma is long-wearing and projects well.

A vivid picture of an autumn forest. Moody, wet, aromatic. Beautiful.

Luna Nina Ricci

Amber Vanilla
Perfumer: Christophe Raynaud, Marie Salamagne

I was looking for a spectacular fragrance with wild berries and caramel but I wanted to avoid Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture. Luna had it all plus much more: orange blossom, immortelle, pear, vanilla or licorice. The notes just looked really good on paper.

I gave it a shot and it turned out to be the right choice. It is deliciously sweet and yummy but the immortelle and licorice add a lot of character to it. It is more refined and elegant Vila La Juicy for every day. The opening is quite complex but the aroma sets into simple warm melted caramel. Try not to laugh but the scent reminds me of Aladin, that sort of picturesque magical vibes. With that being said, Luna is not overpowering and can be easily worn by a young girl.

A fruity caramel scent for an Eastern princess. Positive vibes.

Chance Eau Tendre Hair Mist Chanel

Floral
Perfumer: Jacquez Polge

There is a slight hint of citrus in the opening from quince and grapefruit; however, the fragrance turns into soft delicate musky slightly sweet floral in a minute.

It lingers in your hair for quite some time which is actually impressive considering the note profile and hair mist concentration. I could also smell it on me throughout the day. Nonetheless, I cannot say that I was overly pleased with the scent. There is a synthetic feel to it and it comes across a way too soft and romantic for me. With that being said it represents a good choice for people who are looking for an inoffensive everyday perfume.

A subtle floral musk aroma. At any time, offends no one and lasts.
