Terre d’Hermès: Living a Life with Dignity

Terre d’Hermes by Hermes

Oh man, this stuff is good. Terre d’Hermes has an earthy vetiver aroma with orange. What an intriguing combo. Approachable and fresh yet deep and mysterious. A place where elegance meets class. It is a scent for a man, not a boy.

It can be used daily but I also see it as a special occasion scent for important formal events in a man’s life, for example, graduation, wedding, ball, or gala to name a few. It can work if you are 30+ as well as 60+. It is a perfect dad scent that he can wear to your birthday party.

Women can rock Terre d’Hermes too if they are not afraid of smelling masculine. I picture a strong outdoorsy lady with hobbies like hunting, shooting, or car racing enjoying Terre d’Hermes. But I personally, would love to smell Terre d’Hermes on a guy. It has this natural quality character that makes you feel effortlessly elegant.

Vetyverio Eau de Toilette Diptyque: Where Nature Fails

Maison Diptyque – legendary and innovative; but, most importantly made of raw materials, done manually in small batches. It is known for quality natural-smelling unisex scents.

Being passionate about vetiver fragrances I wanted to explore Vetyverio by Diptyque. Travel with me back in time to 2010 when this famous perfume was created. Vetyverio is a unique combination of vetiver and rose with a zesty opening full of juicy citruses and a spicy fragrance heart. You will find geranium, carrot seeds, nutmeg and clove. Vetiver is there silently laying in the background.

I give it points for originality. However, it has a fresh herbal element which, in fact, bothers me. I like simple herbal smells but here, combined with citrus, flowers and vetiver, I am perplexed. I would much rather see more of that vetiver and maybe a hint of sweetness. I can appreciate the craft, and the resources; nonetheless, it still does not smell good to me. It makes me feel nauseous.

Vétiver d’Hiver: My Potential Signature?

Armani Privé Vétiver d’Hiver (Vetiver Babylone) by Giorgio Armani

I am going to be totally honest with you guys, I have fallen in love with this fragrance. It is when you want to be elegant without thinking too much. Great for a man as well as a woman.

It has a heavenly opening with bergamot, lemon, and mandarin orange. I also smell something a little bitter and grassy. Probably bergamot? The best part is the heart though. It is mild spices of pink pepper, cardamom and corriander. I get especially the cardamom. It is somehow milky and sweet here. It is what gives otherwise a nice fresh scent a character. Then the soft creaminess mixes with woodsy vetiver. Still very refined and classy. I think I am in heaven.

There is just one thing that is getting in the way and I am sure you already know what the hell I am talking about. It lasts literally 30 minutes on the skin! I do not know how it works on clothes but what a disappointment for a private line?

It happened to all of us. We finally discover the perfect perfume. It is slightly overpriced we are willing to pay. Then we realised longevity is crap. We think we can buy a bigger bottle and heavily overspray. Yeap, yeap, yeap. But it is too expensive for that.

Anyway, enough of rumble, I did not buy a full bottle. I recommended it to my father instead. His signature scent has been Irish Tweed for quite some time. It is a classic that is slowly falling into the old-fashioned category. Therefore, I think Vétiver d’Hiver could be a great alternative for him. Plus, he works in the medical field where something light and inoffensive, if anything, is a must.
